Now when we bear witness, we do so with the aid of technology. This technology is much less vulnerable to distortion and doubt than our voices alone. The uncertainty that once sheltered the shameful and denied recognition to heroes is clearing. This symbol--the meaning of which I believe is clear in most contexts even without the accompanying text--reminds public officials and citzens alike that their actions, heroic or shameful, will be witnessed and urges them to act accordingly.
See Idea Details remind meThe large circle represents the influence that the 99% can exert, when unified. The small circle illustrates the isolation and inconsequence of the 1% when they insist on serving only themselves. But, the beautiful thing is that, when the 99% does unify and exert their collective influence, the 1% can’t help but roll down and join them in true, collective, unity. So be it!
See Idea Details remind meThe 99% does not want everything, just what is owed to us. The 99% represented by the protestors are no doubt angry and frustrated, but the movement in itself is about respect and equality. I would use the funds to mass produce and distribute the image to the largest possible audience to remind everyone; protestors, law enforcement, and the 1% we are protesting; that the goals of this movement can be achieved peacefully.
See Idea Details remind meWe like to think that since the installment of human rights in the international arena, we've made a lot of progress. It's also easy to point fingers at Third World countries about their lack of progress. The Occupy Movement demonstrates just how much of an illusion that is in our own home. FDR names five things that America was, and still is, striving toward. I feel the poster serves to emphasize the peaceful, American-ness of the movement (rather than the un-American, hippie and/or violent movement it's being painted as). I would like the poster to be used in variation, with each of the five points emphasized typographically. I see the poster both in print and translated to multimedia projects as well.
See Idea Details remind mePrinted on affordable paper and various other collateral. The idea is easily transferable across almost all mediums. It will be a poster with no language or cultural barrer.
See Idea Details remind meUsing graphic design to give protesters a clear voice: the project I started on http://reducereuseredesign.tumblr.com takes intuitive, interesting, and clever signs that already exist and gives them a makeover from a designer's perspective.
See Idea Details remind meThis money would fund the physical printing of posters that would be distributed to locations throughout the world. As screen-printing is a low cost endeavor, the money could go a long way to spreading the message through quality aesthetics.
See Idea Details remind meThe goal of this poster is to inspire and empower. Design could be distributed via T-shirts, printed posters, traditional advertising and a guerilla street campaign. The torch is symbolic not just as a reference to the statue of liberty, but as a call for revolution. by Melissa Delzio melissa@meldel.com
See Idea Details remind meI'll use the funds to create t-shirts to pass out free among city protestors at any "One ___ Street" location, to bring clarity to the address numbering parallel thinking between the 1% and their buildings.
See Idea Details remind meThe image jingle dress and bull image was originally created for OWSmarch2DC as a banner for the marchers to carry into the USA capital. The image is a symbol for protection down a road to new visions of dialogues and relationships between humanity, politics, commerce, and the land, which to the artist encapsulates philosophy of the OWS movement. The model for the artwork is the artist's daughter, Daryl Concha (Taos Pueblo). Daryl allowed her likeness to be produced for the greater good of the cause in hope that art will bring knowledge. Funds from this challenge would be used to create additional variations of the image in print, banners, paintings, mixed media video of Daryl jingle dress dancing. Visual culture for positive change.
See Idea Details remind meI'd like to see this graphic used on promotional assets (t's or sweat's) or even projected on an electronic billboard with the 99% number constantly being updated on a daily basis. Or used to help celebrate the lasting existence of this cause on landmark days.
See Idea Details remind meI know most people are designing an environmental sign that could be seen and read from far away. I thought a theatrical version would be more compelling and powerful.
